Situated in Colaba, the heart of the bustling city of Mumbai, The Scholar High School is a co-educational institution that imparts education through the medium of English to prepare students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Examination.
She taught in several reputed institutions before fulfilling her dream of opening The Scholar High School. 13 January 1961 was the day that The Scholar High School first opened its doors to just 40 students in The Advent building at Foreshore Road. Today, the school has around 550 students from Standard 1 to 10.
We at The Scholar High School believe that every child is unique and has infinite potential. The purpose of teaching & learning is to bring out every child’s distinctive qualities, personality, talents & creativity in an ever changing world.

Today, we seek to draw inspiration from Mrs. Grant’s rich legacy and work to create a school that trains students for the complexities and uncertainties of the future. In such a dynamic world, students do not have to rely on academic abilities alone. They will need the ability to change, the self-confidence to learn new things and above of all, the ability to foster a strong sense of self.
We seek to be a school that constantly adapts for future generations – so that they continue to learn for tomorrow. In these efforts we have upgraded our premises to provide a world class facility for our students.
During the pandemic, we have added a state of the art Science Labs , Library and Computer Room. Our current endeavours include providing a stage and sports facility in our Multipurpose quadrangle. Little Wizards School will see a completely renovated student friendly premises by year end.
Our goal is to provide a warmer, more positive space so that students can not only learn, but thrive.
Through our ongoing teacher training & professional development, we seek to constantly equip our staff to make their lessons interactive & to understand the world in which our students will graduate – so that they may be best enabled to help our students learn and live for a better tomorrow.

We belong to the school of thought that it is our obligation to ensure that today’s classroom must equip our children with the skills to navigate an ever changing global economy and provide them with the competencies to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Education to us goes beyond books. We believe that each child is unique and it is our responsibility to provide our students with different platforms and activities to explore and thrive in. Most importantly, a student's educational experience must be well rounded and their personal growth and self-confidence must be nurtured.
Positivity and Kindness have been statistically proven to be essential for increasing student’s ability to focus and learn, and is often ignored by many schools. We at Scholar strive to use motivation rather than fear and incentives rather than punishment to drive student happiness and growth.
Our newer spaces are being purposefully designed to be brighter and more inspiring by using invigorating colour palettes and interactive features that encourage learning and foster collaboration.
Committing to the future of children is impossible without constant transformation as an organization right from the teaching tools used, learning methods, teacher trainings, resource and infrastructure upgradation – we are committed to evolving with the times to provide our students with an updated learning environment.
While guiding students to appear for the ICSE examination which requires our students to face the rigour of the Indian Education System, we work to incorporate collaborative & international methods of learning that will equip our students with life skills that go beyond the classroom.

The school was honoured with the Certificate of Achievement from Education Today for completing 50 plus successful years in Education for exemplary contribution to the field in September 2017. Mrs. D'Souza, the then Head Mistress who worked with Scholar for 34 years received the awarded.
